Lentils

Lentils are a good source of B vitamins, folate, iron, and potassium. They also contain high levels of protein and fiber. Green and Red lentils are the classic varieties that are the most common in Russia.

Green Lentils is grown for food purposes only. The seeds of green lentils are flat, resembling a plate in shape, which gave green lentils its second name – plate lentils. They take a little longer to cook, but retain their shape during cooking. Green Lentils have an exceptionally soft and mealy texture with warm flavor.

Normally, each of them contains two seeds, about 0.5 centimeters (1⁄4 in) in diameter, in the characteristic lens shape

Red lentils are like green lentils but they take a short time to cook and if they are pre-soaked  they are split (the skins removed so they split naturally into two halves) and we call it DAHL
